Enrolment Policy (2005)

 

Background

Carlton Public School at June 2005 has 885 students. The bulk of students are in years K-3. The school has 15 demountable classrooms. The playground is crowded and we presently use a local park at lunch times for an extra play space. The school is very popular in the local community and over the last 8 years has had increasing enrolments.

 

Policy

 

  1. All children that live within the school boundaries (as shown on the attached map attached) are entitled to go to Carlton Public School.
  2. All siblings of students in Kindergarten to Year 5( both within and outside of boundaries) will be accepted for enrolment
  3. All children living outside the school boundaries will not be enrolled except under exceptional circumstances.*
  4. Children of staff members are permitted to enrol with the permission of the Principal.
  5. All students must present the following documentation before enrolment:

·        A Birth Certificate if born in Australia

·        Immunisation History Statement

·        Proof of residential address

This must include one or more of the following

a.      Notice or bill on an official letterhead

b.      Lease Agreement

c.       Property purchase agreement

d.      Statuary declaration signed by the parent

e.       Other proof of residence acceptable to the Principal

 

·        Passport (Where applicable)

·        Transfer form (Where applicable)

 

WAITING LIST

 

Parents can request to go on a waiting list. Our waiting list will have a maximum of 15 students for new kindergarten enrolments. For the others years the waiting list will be a maximum of 5 students. Parents have the right to know where they are on the waiting list.

*Exceptional circumstances refers to situations where children with special needs maybe accepted for enrolment. eg. Children in wheel chairs.
