Dear Parents
& Caregivers,
TRAFFIC AROUND
THE SCHOOL
I am sure we are all aware of the parking issues around the school at
pick up and drop off time. On wet days, this becomes even more of an issue. All
drivers must make sure that they are obeying the road and parking rules, for
the safety of all the children. It is very disappointing when parents express
their lack of concern over obeying rules.
Please remember:-
· It
is illegal to make a U-turn in
· Double
parking makes it difficult for all drivers to see.
· Do
not to park illegally near the crossings.
· All
students are to use the crossings.
· Do
not park in the bus bay.
· Don’t
park over driveways, including the school’s driveway.
COMMUNITY CLUB
MEETING
The community club will meet at 9:15
on Thursday 11 June. It is a great opportunity for those who cannot
attend the P&C to hear what is happening at the school.
The community club is looking for volunteers to help man a Bunning’s BBQ
in July. This is a great one for the Dads. It will be a very worthwhile
fundraising opportunity for the school. Please
contact Mick Holzer (Ph: 0433 959 661) if you can help.
ATTENDANCE AND
EXTENDED LEAVE
Daily attendance at school is a legal requirement. If your child is away
you need to send a note to the class teacher on return to school. If your child
will be away for a number of days due to illness, please notify the school. If
the absence will be over 15 days or more, over a school year, for a reason that
is not illness, you need to apply for “extended leave exemption”. These are
processed at District Office and must be applied for in advance. Please see the
school office for a form to complete.
NOTIFIABLE
ILLNESS
If you child has
an infectious disease, such as whooping cough (Pertussis) or Meningococcal disease, you must notify the
school. We are required to report certain infectious diseases to Area Health. Parents and caregivers that have children under
the age of 12 months old are entitled to a free Boostrix (tetanus
/diptheria/ pertussis) immunisation. This
is for a limited time only, with no definate date being set by the
Public Health Unit as to when the free vaccine will end. The Boostrix
vaccine for adults is about $75 if they are not entitled to the free
vaccine. The pertussis epidemic has been spread predominantly through
adults and teenagers and it is important that adults revaccinate if they
have young children.
URGENT UPDATE
Of concern at the
present time, is Swine Flu.
The DET has a range of measures in place. Parents can view these on the DET
website. It is important that we act on accurate information, so we ask all
parents, if they are concerned, to contact the office as soon as possible. Please
ensure you allay the fears of your children, as they are often only hearing
part of a story. There have been no reported cases at Carlton Public.
There has been a directive dated 3rd June
from the Director General that all students who travel to Greater
We ask that all parents and caregivers adhere to
these guidelines, for the health of all students.
If you seek
additional information, please refer to the DET website.
DRUG EDUCATION
The following are
two websites that have useful information about drug education at school.
They are worth
looking at.

BOOK CLUB
The last day for
book club orders is Tuesday 9 June, 2009.
No late orders will be accepted after this date. Please send your order
and correct money to the office.
P&C
MEETING 9 JUNE
All parents are welcome to attend the monthly P&C meeting. At the June meeting, the Annual School Report
2008 will be presented for discussion.
PARENTS IN THE PLAYGROUND
All
parents are reminded that they must report to the school office for permission
to enter the school grounds during class time. The office will then issue a
visitors badge. Parents are not to go directly to classes to give food or
medicines to students.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER 3PM
Parents
are reminded that all students are to exit the school as soon as possible after
the bell at 3pm. There are a number of children who play on the equipment and
this area is not supervised. If accidents occur, or there are incidents between
students, the school is not responsible.
