CHOCOLATES RETURN                                                  TOMORROW - FRIDAY

Our chocolate drive is soon to finish up. Please send all money and any unsold chocolates back to school by tomorrow, Friday 21 August.  I would like to thank everyone for a big effort with the chocolates but if the school is to have a successful chocolate drive we must get all money or any unsold chocolates back on Friday.  To be in the prize draw, chocolates need to be back tomorrow.

Thank you for your support. Students who have taken additional boxes will have extra time to sell.

PSSA FINALS RESULTS

Congratulations to those students who participated in the PSSA finals last Friday. Senior A Netballers won (18-7) to take out Division 2, Senior Boys Soccer drew (1-1) to become joint Premiers and the Junior Boys Oztag team lost (3-4) in an extremely close game to be runners up. Well done to these teams and to all the students and teachers who have been involved in Winter PSSA. Also, thank you to the many parents who have turned up throughout the season to support the teams. Please ensure that any shirts that were hired are returned this week. Summer PSSA starts on Friday 4 September.

Thank you to our Winter PSSA teachers Mr Clark, Ms Leedham, Mrs Howard, Ms Uzanovska, and Mr Green.

NORTH SYDNEY BOYS OPEN DAY 1 SEPTEMBER , 9AM -12AM

The North Sydney Boys community would like to invite you to Open Day. You will be able to join in tours and activities, meet with students and teachers and discover how they deliver excellence and innovation in boys’ education. Teachers, parent groups and Principal, Robyn Hughes will be available during the morning. At 10.30am in the hall, Ms Hughes will officially welcome visitors to the school and share what makes North Sydney Boys so unique.

MINI FETE

Congratulations to all the students in Stage 3 for an absolutely fantastic Mini Fete. They were very creative with all their stalls and I think we really need to call it a ‘major” fete as it seems to get bigger each year. All the students had great fun tossing water bombs, eating, drinking, getting their hair coloured and dancing in the hall. The haunted house is always a great success. Thank you to all the Stage 3 staff for their tireless efforts and support of the students. It has been a great fundraiser and they raised just over $7000.

UNIFORM SHOP NEWS

The uniform shop is pleased to announce that they are able to offer light cotton long pants for girls to wear in summer under their summer uniform. Samples will be on show in the uniform shop. This is in response to the need of some female students. They will sell for $18 and will need to be ordered in advance. They will be a cooler alternative in the hot summer months.  In addition, we are able to offer long sleeve summer dresses for an extra cost of $7.  Again, orders will need to be placed.

CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS CHESS TEAM

2009 NSW Interschool Girls' Teams Chess Challenge was held on Thursday, 13 Aug 2009. This once a year event is the highest level of girls interschool team tournament in the state. The competition was so close; Carlton and defending champions, Summer Hill Public, were both on the same points before they played for the title. However our team did better at the last round. We beat Summer Hill  to claim the victory and became a clear winner. The team in second place was 2 points away.  Our players are: Shirley Gu  (5/6S),  Sarah Ishak  (5/6S),  Theresa Gu (4K)   Well done girls!

KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENT FOR 2010

We already have around 70 enrolments for Kindergarten next year. We would ask that parents who have children starting school next year, to collect an enrolment form from the office. Also if you know of other people around the school who have children starting school next year, we would appreciate you letting them know it is time to enroll. Please remember that the school has strict enrolment boundaries for all new students and parents must be able to show the school proof of residence.

EARLY NOTICE

School photographs will be held Tuesday 15 September and Wednesday 16 September 2009. Please, if possible do not book dentist or other appointments on these days.

NATIONAL SCHOOL PRIDE FUNDING

At the beginning of September painting will begin in Block A, under National School Pride funding. The work will take about 5 weeks and we are hoping to minimise disruption to students. The work will involve classrooms as well as common areas, such as hallways and stairwells.

FATHERS DAY STALL

Every year the Community Club holds a Fathers Day Stall where children can buy a gift for their father or grandfather.  If you have any NEW or “as new gifts” that you could donate to our school, please send them along to your class teacher.  A Fathers Day box will be placed in each classroom for presents.   We also need parents to help tie ribbons around presents (approx 30 presents) at your home. This is an ideal opportunity for working parents to help by doing this at home. Please send your name and contact phone number to the office and we will contact you. The last day for counting will be 28 August, 2009 The class that brings in the most items will be awarded a prize.
