Dear Parents
& Caregivers,
EXPANDING HORIZONS GALA CONCERT
A message from the Sydney Region Director, Dr Phil
Lambert
“Wow… what a fabulous concert
last night. I received so many positive comments
last night and have also by email this morning about the Expanding Horizons Gala Concert. I
cannot express my appreciation enough to
the many people that made last night such a success. It involved so many logistical/cultural/artistic challenges yet
on the night public education
showed once again what it can deliver.”

I would like to also thank all the wonderful choir members in Years 3 and
4 who have worked so hard and sung so beautifully. The behaviour of all
students was outstanding and we had a great time singing at the Opera House.
Thank you also to all the parents who attended the concert and supported
the choir with costumes and encouragement. This type of activity is something
the students will remember for the rest of their lives.
Thank you to Mrs
Aitken and Mrs Colubriale for the time they spent
preparing the students.
CHOCOLATE
DRIVE
Please send all
money and any unsold chocolates back to school by tomorrow. We need to finalise payments as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.
NEW COVER FOR
NEWSLETTER!
I’m sure you’ve all noticed our new newsletter cover. The main photo of
the students with the earth ball was taken at a cross country event. It
typifies the fun, cooperation and energy of Carlton PS. We thought it was a
great photo to showcase our school.
GOOD LUCK TO
OUR TOURNAMENT OF MINDS TEAM
The TOM team will be competing this Saturday. They have worked very hard
and I hear the students are displaying great talent. The team will be competing
against private and public schools. Thank you to Mrs Dettrick
and Ms Flowers for all your hard work preparing the team.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
The playground equipment is closed as there are some repairs needed.
Parents are asked not to allow their children to use the equipment before or
after school or outside school hours.
SAFETY OF
STUDENTS BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL
The playground is supervised from 8:30am each morning. Students are not
encouraged to be on the school grounds before this time. Students must remain
seated and not play, before supervision commences.
The playground is not supervised after school and students are asked to
exit immediately. After school care is available for parents who require it.
There are a number of students who remain on the school site for lengthy
periods of time after school finishes and this is extremely unsafe.
SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS
Notes about
packages for school photographs have been distributed. This year we have gone
to a new style of presentation with the photos in an A4 book format with a
sheet of photos enclosed. Parents can order
and pay for photographs on line. Also, orders can be made by telephone or by
simply returning the envelope to school with the correct money. School
photographs will be on the 15 and 16 September 2009.
UNIFORM NEWS
In last week’s
newsletter, it was mentioned that the uniform shop was able to stock some
alternative styles and items. At this time, the uniform shop is unable to stock
any extra items but will note if there is any interest. We will keep you
informed if there are any changes.
FATHER’S DAY
STALL ONE
WEEK TO GO

We need your help for this event to go well so please, just turn up at
either or both of these days.
